Windward: Gartner’s “Notable Vendor” for Global Visibility Solutions

Baltimore’s Big Impact 24 Day Delay And More

What’s inside?

Leading analyst firm, Gartner, has defined and evaluated a new category: International Visibility Business Process Context. Its report on this category notes the importance of the technology in this category.

“The role of international visibility technology is more critical now as organizations facing unprecedented challenges need to know where their in-transit goods are, and gain predictive and reliable insights as to when those goods will be available or delivered,” according to the report.

The report, which recognized Windward as a “notable vendor,” discussed the importance of planning enablement and helpfulness of vendor specialization, saying visibility solutions “allow organizations to not only estimate realistic ETAs, but also plan ahead and optimize distribution strategy before moving inventory from one location to another. As the system estimates available capacity for certain trade lanes, organizations can make better decisions to schedule more efficient throughput with optimizing appointments and labor, and send cargo to nearby, alternative ports and avoid potential port congestion and further delays.

…the specialization that international transportation visibility vendors offer can be helpful to companies looking to enhance visibility in the main leg of their international shipments, and those preceding and subsequent cargo movements related to that leg prior road transportation.”

“Gartner has focused its analytical expertise on international visibility technology, creating a new category that shows the critical nature of this type of technology,” said Ami Daniel, Windward Co-Founder and CEO. “We are honored to be named one of the ‘notable vendors’ in Gartner’s accompanying report. This recognition further validates Windward as a leader in actionable visibility for the wider ocean freight ecosystem.
