Product Owner – Vessel Ownership & Trade Data

TLV, Israel · Full-time · Intermediate

About The Position

We’re looking for a Product Owner to join our Platform product team, owning two distinct but closely related data products that power our maritime intelligence platform: vessel ownership, and cargo flows — including container tracking and cargo movements.

This role wears two hats. On one side, you’ll own the metadata that tells our customers who is behind every vessel — registered owners, operators, ship managers, and the corporate hierarchies that connect them, including the compliance-sensitive aspects analysts rely on. On the other, you’ll own the trade-flow product – container tracking, cargo movements, and the broader picture of what’s moving where.

These data sources are messy, fragmented, and full of contradictions. A core part of the role is partnering closely with our DataOps team to pinpoint and resolve data issues quickly — turning conflicting raw inputs into trustworthy, queryable products. You’ll split your time across data sourcing and vendor management, engineering and pipelines, and the workflows built on top of the data.

What you’ll do?

  • Own the product vision, roadmap, and backlog for two distinct products: vessel ownership and cargo tracking — separate roadmaps and metrics, coordinated where they meet.
  • Develop deep expertise in the underlying data sources: vessel registries, ownership and management hierarchies, container tracking feeds, cargo manifests, port call data — including their gaps, refresh rates, and known failure modes.
  • Source, evaluate, and integrate third-party data providers; manage licensing, coverage, and quality SLAs.
  • Partner closely with engineering on ingestion, entity resolution, fusion, and serving — making informed trade-offs on coverage, accuracy, and freshness.
  • Work hand-in-hand with the DataOps team to pinpoint and resolve data quality issues, define data-quality metrics, and continuously raise the bar on accuracy and trust.
  • Translate customer feedback, analyst workflows, and internal stakeholder input into clear, prioritized user stories and acceptance criteria.
  • Coordinate with adjacent product owners (vessel positional data, GeoInt, activities) to ensure ownership and trade data integrate cleanly into the broader data layer.
  • Communicate roadmap, progress, data-quality posture, and trade-offs clearly to stakeholders across product, go-to-market, and leadership.
  • Partner with engineering day-to-day — sprint planning, backlog grooming, and trade-off decisions on scope, quality, and timing.

Requirements

Who are you?

  • 3–5 years of experience as a Product Owner or Product Manager.
  • Track record owning data products or data platforms – products where the core deliverable is a dataset, feed, or pipeline.
  • Experience dealing with companies and UBO registries, from Fintech, Insurtech, or adjacent sectors
  • Comfort partnering closely with DataOps and engineering to investigate, pinpoint, and resolve data issues and turn those investigations into systemic fixes.
  • Comfort going deep on technical detail: data schemas, ingestion pipelines, entity resolution, data quality metrics, and engineering trade-offs.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, especially with technical audiences.
  • Experience with trade / supply chain data (container tracking, cargo manifests, port calls, customs) — advantage.
  • Hands-on experience with maritime ownership and/or compliance data — vessel registries, IMO/MMSI, beneficial ownership, sanctions screening, ship management structures, KYC workflows.
  • Maritime domain experience — advantage.
